The “Primer Throw” and the “Hunter’s Throw”

As in life; find the balance point and grip it.

Try throwing the Javelin down a dozen times or so and slowly extend the distance from down at your feet to further away.

Raise the Javelin over shoulder beside ear or overhead (can be over shoulder or straight over top of head) and extend opposite hand with foot aligned underneath. (Best for beginner to do practice throws in ground starting about four feet out and extending to 12-15').

Throw with force exerted from back leg into back and abdoman. (take a half step forward with the front foot as you do this).
“Rainbow Throw” (long distance)

As before- find balance point.

Extend tip of Javelin back to touch ground at approximately 45 degrees turning body to assist it. Extend other hand and foot forward and up at 45 degrees, weight on back leg/foot.

Throw with intention and eyes set at 45 degrees...body turns and weight transfers to front foot.
“Running Throw” (not shown)
As before but drag tip initially as you run. Later you can “keep the angle” of the Javelin as you run without dragging the tip…all body actions the same on throw the main difference being during wind up you will develop a skip step to launch it…later, as you practice, the skip step is key to transferring power into the throwing arm.
